Hello, my name is Holly and I am the founder and owner of ASprucedUpLife.com. Welcome to my website where I share ideas and tips for life, travel, and DIY.

It’s a place for people like you who are looking for inspiration and motivation to live a full life.

Upbringing

I grew up on a small farm in rural West Virginia. My home county didn’t (and still doesn’t) have a stop light or fast food restaurant. (Although, we did have a Tudor’s/Gino’s combination at one point. Does that count? You can find out about this deliciousness in a later post.) My parents are pretty awesome and instilled a strong work ethic in me at a young age. I loved having the chance to complete hands-on projects around the farm (including helping with my father’s many remodeling projects. My parents also took us on excursions quite often and allowed me to be creative, buying tons of crafting materials and even letting me paint murals on the walls. You can see where I get my love for life, travel and DIY!

Education

I went to University and received a B.S. in Education with certifications in Art PK – Adult and Math 5 – Adult, B.S. in Mathematics, and minors in Studio Art (Painting) and Geography. Don’t worry, it took me five years to do this. I also have a Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration.

I mainly teach Algebra I but have also taught Geometry, ACT/SAT Test Prep, and Transitional Math for Seniors.

My Passions

I don’t have one extremely strong passion: I love life, travel, and DIY the same. We have traveled locally, along the East Coast, and internationally, and love to tell others about our experiences. We also purchased our first house in 2018 and have been remodeling since (see Refinishing Hardwood Floors and Mid-Century Modern Decor). Another passion is financial literacy and teaching others how to live a debt-free life (see 6 Ways to Save on Your Electric Bill). In case you are wondering, we follow the Dave Ramsey plan.
